Air-to-water heat pumps are now eligible for

payments under the non domestic Renewable

Heat Incentive (ndRHI), as part of a number

of changes to the Government scheme

announced on 28th May 2014.

With more technologies than ever before now

eligible for payments, UK businesses will have a

wider choice of green heating solutions, which

should help drive the switch to renewables.

Air-to-water heat pumps installed since 4th

December 2014 will earn building owners

2.5p for every kWh of energy produced for

20 years after installation. To be eligible, they

must have a design Seasonal Performance

Factor (SPF) of at least 2.5; must generate heat

by taking energy from the air; cannot provide

cooling; and must not use heat expelled from

a building or from a heat generating process.

"We have long called for air-towater

heat pumps to be included

in the ndRHI scheme and this

announcement is very welcome.

These changes will give customers

more choice and should mean

more organisations will apply for

the ndRHI applications."
