The SETPOINT RESET option on Daikin

air-cooled screw chillers with Microtech III

controllers allows adjustment of the Evaporator

Leaving Water Temp (ELWT) setpoint by means

of three diff erent parameters:

1. A 4-20 mA input signal

2. The return water temperature signal

3. The Outside Ambient Temperature

(OAT) measured with a temperature

sensor in the chiller (typically at the

centre of the condensing section).

When controlled by the OAT value, the ELWT

setpoint is changed according to the external

temperature following a linear variation trend.

In standard comfort cooling applications when

the OAT is reducing, typically both sensible and

latent heat loads decrease. In these conditions,

the ELWT setpoint can be increased -

increasing the chiller effi ciency (up to 25% EER

at part loads) and still providing correct comfort

conditions in the conditioned area.

This is an easy energy-saving solution for

comfort cooling applications - simply by

enabling the function in the chiller controller.
